exists.ch API

Check a handle across public profile pages and one domain from your own code. One POST, one JSON answer. The API comes with Pro: £5 a month, 50 checks a day.

1. Get a key

Upgrade on Pricing. After checkout you see your key once. Keep it somewhere safe, like a password. Lost it? Use Manage billing or email us.

2. Make a call

The key is enough on its own. You do not need to be signed in. domain is optional.

3. Read the answer

exists: a public page or record was found. url links to it.
not_found: open. No public page or record was found today.
blocked: can't see. The platform blocked a public check, so we do not guess. Counted as hidden in summary.

Results above are an example of the shape, not a live answer.

Errors

HTTP	error	Meaning
400	bad_handle	The handle is empty, too long or has characters no platform allows.
401	invalid_key	The key is wrong, or Pro is not active.
401	auth	No key, and not signed in.
405	method	Use POST.
429	rate_limited	More than 30 calls a minute. Wait for `Retry-After` seconds.
429	daily_limit	Today's 50 checks are used. Resets at midnight UTC.

Good to know

We cache answers for a short while, so the same name twice in a row is quick and does not hit platforms again.
Only public pages. No logins, no private data, no people search. See the Terms.
